Hi, Heather, and thanks for the response. I totally agree that creativity is a separate skill from learning, but I would argue that learning is INEXTRICABLY linked with the actual act of creating. You’re right, it’s definitely possible to create something in an area that we don’t know much about. It happens frequently in the realm of science and discovery. But, to say that it’s possible to create without knowing anything at all is where the message breaks down. Creation as the highest form of learning really just means that we take what we know from one subject area, or discipline, synthesize it, break it down into its component parts, and either reapply it in a new way, or to a new discipline.
