How to Cure Procrastination

To my fellow procrastinators, STOP!!

🛑 STOP believing that you’re lazy!!

🛑STOP believing that you just need to “staple your butt to the chair”!!

🛑 STOP thinking that “successful people don’t procrastinate”!!

🛑 STOP listening to the inner voice that tells you that you are worthless because you procrastinate!!

You need to understand what the SCIENCE says about procrastinating. It’s not a result of laziness or demotivation, or any of that crap.

It’s a STRESS RESPONSE.

It’s your mind and body telling you if you don’t RELAX, you’re gonna do some mental damage.

When we get stressed, we procrastinate, simple as that. It’s our conditioned response to our brains feeling overwhelmed…we check out and watch cat videos.

So, when you find yourself watching that fourth episode of “Orange is the New Black” instead of killing the TV and getting prepped for tomorrow, or disappearing down a YouTube rabbit hole for a couple hours, or mindlessly scrolling through Insta looking at how GREAT everybody else’s FAKE life is, instead of beating yourself up, ask yourself this:

  1. What am I stressed about?
  2. Why is this stressful for me?
  3. What can I do to immediately reduce my stress?

The trick to overcoming procrastination is in immediately reducing stress. However you can. So take a deep breath, count to five, and start accomplishing something. Anything. Be productive, even if it’s only for 5 minutes, because you know what will happen?

You’ll be less stressed, because you got something done, and then you’ll be more apt to want to do something else right afterwards.
