This is a great article that makes an excellent point. I’m struggling to communicate this to some of my leadership students in a class I’m teaching right now, but I think what you’ve said here really puts it into perspective. Learning is the objective, not simply failing to say you failed. I get tired of hearing my students say “well, we failed to achieve the objective, but we’re functioning really well as a team…” when the reality is that teams exist primarily to accomplish objectives, so clearly something is missing! This article helps explain that, and I will put this idea into rotation with my students ASAP. Thanks for posting!
